MotorCities National Heritage Area, an affiliate of the National Park Service and designated by Congress to preserve, interpret and promote the story of automotive heritage within the State of Michigan, has changed its website URL to MotorCities.org. Formerly, the URL was ExperienceEverythingAutomotive.org.
"We have changed our URL to make the MotorCities website more easily accessible to people who are looking for historical or tourist information about the automobile industry," said Nancy Burnett, MotorCities administrator. "Our website is constantly evolving, and by simplifying our URL, it will be easier to find the latest automotive heritage news and events."
National Heritage Areas are places where natural, cultural, historic and scenic resources combine to form a cohesive, nationally important landscape arising from patterns of human activity.
The programs and activities of the MotorCities National Heritage Area are designed to increase tourism throughout the State of Michigan; develop and deploy educational and informational programs that tell the American story of the automobile industry and labor in our region; and encourage revitalization.
Additionally, MotorCities awards $50,000 in annual grants to community- based individuals and organizations to facilitate the development of new auto heritage projects that enable residents and visitors to "experience everything automotive." MotorCities grants to date have been leveraged into over $5 million in spending on auto-related experiences and venues.
